We've all been affected by the state of the economy, and the calls
for help and donations are everywhere. It can become overwhelming and
frustrating, and make you feel hopeless in the face of so much need.
The truth is, a little bit goes a long way when we all pitch in
together! When the call for saving In Other Words came in many people
immediately cursed the fact that they are cash poor ... but we're
resource rich! Community organizers, businesses, dj's and promoters
have pulled together to have a good time for a good cause, and you're
invited!

VERB is your chance to dance with your fellow feminists and freaks,
and help keep the doors of In Other Words open! They are such an
amazing community resource, and a national treasure, truly. They are
the last non-profit feminist bookstore in the country, as well as our
very own village square, and they are also in imminent risk of losing
their space if they don't raise $11,000 by the end of this month. If
we don't want to lose treasures like Homorobics, That Time of the
Month, The Feminist Film Series, The Luna Music Series, and Dirty
Queer, then we've got to bring what we have to the table with no delay.

So spread the word and come on down to Zaytoon this snowy Sunday night
as we dance the debt away. DJ's Sappho and Mr. Charming will be
spinning (more dj's to be announced), door prizes will be won, and we
can bask in the mutual appreciation that makes our wonderfully weird
Portland world go 'round. If you can't join in on Sunday, be sure to
make your donations at In Other Words, or at the Alberta Co-op (they
are matching donations).
